“We know that every connection matters. Every connection is crucial and when one is broken, it usually means that the damage has been done. This system of connection compels us to act, choose and behave… sometimes seemingly against our own will, but it is not random at all. It is the map of who we are. We will work to understand ourselves… solve the puzzle of how all the connections work and how all the pieces fit.”
– Derek, Grey’s Anatomy
I know I’ve talked a lot about this before, but although we feel like some things are uncontrollable, the truth is that we have the opportunity to control more than many people think. If a connection starts or fails, we choose how to react.
I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. The reason may not be known at the time, but at some point (hopefully) it will present itself.
Each interaction we have with any other human on this earth changes us – for better or for worse (hoping not the latter). Our connections that we build each day, in random passing, or with those we know, has an impact on who we are. If even in the slightest way, it affects us; changes us.
As we work to understand who we are, we need to also see the connections that are made, and/or broken. Are they healthy or unhealthy? Should it change or stay the same? Will that connection help you grow as a person? Ultimately, that’s what we want, right?
